Frequently Asked Questions

Before visiting us, you might have a few questions. We've assembled some of the more common questions here, complete with helpful answers. If you have additional questions, give us a call or write a note in the “Contact Us” box and we will get back with you.

Q. Are you an Independent church, or are you affiliated with an established denomination?

A. We are affiliated with the Association of Vineyard Churches (www.vineyardusa.org). This is an national and international association of over 1,500 churches. We are a Bible based community who places a high value on worship, being honest before God, and enjoying the gifts and blessings God gives us when we need them. We welcome everyone, regardless of his or her beliefs.

Q. Are you like the Baptists or Methodists or Pentecostals or Charismatics or what?

A. We see God doing all kinds of good stuff in many Christian churches. And we are thankful for that. We are kind of like a blend of different church traditions. On the one hand we want to learn and know the truths of God as we see them in the Bible. On the other hand, we want to experience the power of God to change us and give us what we need to serve him. We also seek God’s grace and healing from so many of the physical, emotional, relational, and spiritual challenges we all experience in our day-to-day lives.

Q. What should I wear?

A. Most people wear the kinds of clothes they wore on Saturday.  We don’t want clothes to be a big issue in keeping people from coming to church.

Q. What is your music worship like?

A. Our music is very contemporary in style.  Some are fast and edgy songs of praise. Others are more soft and personal songs that allow us to express our hearts to God. We have different worship leaders who lead us in song, backed up by a full worship band with guitars, drums, keyboard, bass, and percussion. But this is NOT a performance. We are like singers in a choir and the worship team helps us sing words that we can express to and about God. But you don’t have to sing if you don’t want to!

Q. Will I have to do anything, say anything, or give anything?

A. You are free to come and observe, or join in, or whatever you prefer. You do not have to do anything that you’re not comfortable with. Our offerings are for those who call this church their home. Visitors are not expected to give us any money.

Q. What types of people go to the Raleigh Vineyard Church?

A. We welcome all people. And we are a diverse congregation in color, language, age, financial status, and spiritual backgrounds. We know what it is like to have experienced failure in our lives, rejection and disappointment, personal and relational brokenness, as well as times when it seems like everything is working out. We are discovering together the incredible power of Jesus love and the grace with which He rebuilds our lives.

Q.  I am not yet a Christian, is it OK if I attend your services?

A. Absolutely! We invite anyone who is a spiritual seeker of truth to come and explore what Christianity is like in a safe and welcoming environment.
